Well Behaved Women
Rating: ★★★★
Venue: Doonstairs at Gilded Balloon Patter House, Edinburgh

It's 1883. Three friends are trying their best to navigate the chaos of their 20s. Marianne wants to be taken seriously. Emma wants to find a husband. Hattie wants to get drunk. When awful aristocrat Chester arrives in town, appearing to hold the keys to all their dreams, they decide the only reasonable plan of attack is to host a fake séance to trick him into helping them. What could possibly go wrong? They're not making history. They are making a bit of a mess of things.

The funniest farce at the fringe!

This cast of five do not STOP through this 70 minute play about girls, gays, and ghosts. The script itself is brilliant - fast paced and comical - with excellent direction to support it.

Although we race through each scene, the speed is only ever an addition to the humour, and never feels rushed. The same can be said for each performer who navigates complex and wordy dialogue in an easy back and forth, while remaining clear to the audience. You cannot spotlight just one of the actors either, as each bring such different (and an important variety of) characteristics to the stage.
