Sunshine on Leith
Rating: ★★★★★
Venue: Music Hall at Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh

Captivate Theatre's five-star, vibrant, energetic, emotional sell-out production is in the Music Hall! By Stephen Greenhorn, the story follows Ally and Davy as they negotiate families, friendships and love in this funny and moving story featuring songs of The Proclaimers. 'Toe-tapping and filled with hometown love, Captivate Theatre's production of Sunshine on Leith... is fun and energetic.' (AllEdinburghTheatre.com).

Captivate Theatre does it again! Year after year, this amateur company continues to prove that unpaid does NOT equate to untalented. With many represented members of the cast, multiple of which have already graduated from industry leading schools, it's clear to see why this company continues to impress audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Sunshine on Leith is a stage show based on the cult classic film, and is a perfect summary of what the city feels like at this time of year. It is a festival staple, and I could not recommend this specific production more! There is no set, and very basic lighting design, but you almost don't notice this as it is so clear at all times where we are, and what the atmosphere is. This is credited to both the principals and the director; both teams which lead this production with light-heartedness, skill, and confidence.

With possibly the largest ensemble I have seen this year, scenes rehearsed so smoothly they are more professional than some commercial pieces I've seen in London, and a score that will be stuck in your head for days to come, this is not one to miss!
