Hi Holly, how are you doing today? Thanks so much for chatting to Stage to Page again - it's lovely to have you back! Would you mind introducing yourself to our readers?
Hello, I’m very well thank you. It’s lovely to be back again. My name is Holly Liburd.
You're currently in the Ensemble of Lovestuck: A New Comedy Musical, currently playing at Stratford East. Can you tell us about the story and your role, as well as the characters you cover?
Yes, Lovestuck is a new rom-com musical based around a true story that came to light a few years ago when a woman got stuck upside down in a bathroom window whilst on a date. It sounds crazy I know, and whilst there are lots of hilarious, crazy moments throughout the show, it also has a lot of heart. Everyone can relate to it and it’s a beautiful story about finding self-love and self-worth. I’m in the ensemble so I multi-role a lot of different characters - my favourite being a troll - but I won’t spoil it by telling you all of the different characters. You’ll have to come and watch.
How does it feel to be part of a new musical that seems to be garnering so much excitement within the theatre community?
It feels amazing to be part of new theatre. New musicals are needed more than ever at the moment and I love that this is a very British comedy musical aimed at any and every generation. Everyone who has come so far has absolutely loved it which is great because we love to perform it every night. In a world that has a lot of movie adaptation musicals at the moment, it’s refreshing to do a piece of brand new theatre.
From Mean Girls to Clueless, to The Bodyguard, to Ain't Too Proud, you've already been part of so many incredible productions. What's been your career highlight so far?
I’ve been so lucky to have done so many amazing shows and I’ve honestly loved each of them for different reasons.
A highlight for me probably has to be playing Diana Ross in Ain’t Too Proud. She’s such an iconic woman with so many great songs, and it was a genuine pleasure to get to step into her shoes every night.
My blog is called Stage to Page. But if you could turn any book, from page to stage, what would it be and why?
This question is funny, because I think last time I might of said The Hunger Games, and now it really is coming to the stage so I’m really excited that it’s come true!
And finally, why should people book tickets to Lovestuck: A New Comedy Musical?
Everyone should book a ticket to see Lovestuck because it really is one of the funniest shows with the biggest heart and the most amazing tunes. You’ll leave the theatre singing the songs with a smile on your face. I promise.
