Transport Explorers: A Live Show

Rating: ★★★★
Venue: London Transport Museum
Cast: Hattie Manton and James Georgiou

Join two trainee engineers as they race against time to tackle transport challenges from the past, present and future. Can you help them earn their Planner, Fixer, and Dreamer badges to become fully fledged engineers?

Packed with comedy, science demos, and audience interaction, this 60-minute show takes kids (and their grown-ups) on a journey through amazing moments in London’s transport history, from world-changing innovation in the 1800s to smart solutions for modern-day transport problems – plus groundbreaking ideas that could shape our future.

I attended the show with my 12 year old son, who was at first apprehensive about the production. However, throughout the show I would catch myself looking at him and seeing just how excited he was and how he was fully engaged throughout the show.

The story follows two engineers Kai (James Georgiou) and Jesse (Hattie Manton), who are on a journey to collect their Planner, Fixer and Dreamer badges and they do this by telling the history of transport; all the way up to modern day transport and the plans for future travel. They also use science experiments to demonstrate certain aspects around the history of transport.

Georgiou and Manton as Kai and Jesse are very enthusiastic and brilliant at engaging with the audience throughout the whole show; and both the children and adults alike seemed to really enjoy this interaction. They are full of energy; an energy that's infectious and easy to get lost in yourself. The duo bounce off of each other brilliantly, and their chemistry is evident throughout. It's a joy to watch the dynamic between them as you can tell they really enjoy what they're doing, which only heightens the performances.

When the show had finished, my son shared his thoughts with me and there's no better review for a family show than from a child themself. He said that both Kai and Jesse had his full attention throughout the show and that’s quite difficult for him. He even said he would like to be a fixer engineer in the future as he felt he related to that part of the journey most.

If your kids like history, transport, science, and having lots of fun, then this 60 minute show will be a massive hit. The production is surprisingly enjoyable for both adults and children alike...even for the at first reluctant ones like my son!
