PROUD CABARET: WEST SIDE HORROR STORY | REVIEW

West Side Horror Story
Rating: ★★★★★
Venue: Proud Embankment, London
Cast: Sofia Pavlichenko, J'adore La Vie, Jessicats, Lady Lydia, Shade Flamewater, Jake DuPree, Mister Smith, Klodi & Yann and Lynx

Watch two glittery gangs battle it out for their final place on the West End stage; including favourite songs from West Side Story blended with modern hits!

Our cast gets a spooky makeover – we have a wicked witch host for the night, with an enchanting rendition of I’ve Put A Spell. We uncover a murder at the docks. We meet Proud’s resident bloody ghost rising from the dead and see devilish burlesque demons shake our gravestones.

Halloween is my absolute favourite time of year, so a chance to get dressed up and revisit one of my favourite venues in London was a no-brainer for me. From the second you walk in, the venue has been completely transformed. From skeletons, cobwebs, hanging body bags, as well as iconic Halloween music filling the venue, there was no doubt that spooky season had officially arrived.

I came to see West Side Cabaret Story here a few weeks ago, so I was looking forward to seeing what the creepy makeover on the show would be like. Last time I was there, Jake DuPree and Lynx weren't there, so I was excited to see what they would be like. Spoiler alert: they did not disappoint

The cast at Proud Cabaret is always sublime, but last night was perhaps the best cast I've seen. Sofia Pavlichenko (our host of the evening), oozes sexiness and captivates the crowd with ease, as she breezes her way around the intimate venue. Her rendition of I Put A Spell on You was utterly mesmerising (as were her outfit choices!).

Lynx was the pre-show act, as well as entertaining through the breaks during the show. It was hard to keep your eyes off of her. Not only is she stunning, but also funny, really knows how to work an audience, and most importantly...has the voice of an angel. She reminded me a lot of Florence Pugh. I would love to see Lynx host a future show!

Another standout for me was the wonderful Jake DuPree. This was my first time seeing Jake and they absolutely blew me away. They were, without a doubt, one of the sexiest people I've ever seen. They wowed with jaw-dropping outfits and were dripping with seduction and suggestiveness.

If you've read my previous reviews of Proud Cabaret, you'll know how much I adore Lady Lydia. Whatever "it" is, she has it in abundance. Her performance is always provocative and sensual, and last night was no different. What her and Shade Flamewater do with fire is mind-blowing!

This visit, I had a 5-course meal. As a gluten free guest, choices are often limited eating out - but that was not the case here. I started with goat's cheese and caramelized onion, then moved onto beef tartare. The fish course was monkfish, followed by lamb and celeriac mash. I ended the night with crème brulee, which was to die for. If you're looking to treat yourself to an extra special night out, look no further than the VIP tickets at Proud Cabaret.

West Side Horror Story is a mouth-watering evening of sex-fuelled spookiness and tantalizing terror. The horror version of this show is on for three nights only, but you can catch West Side Cabaret Story until the beginning of 2023. For a night of top class entertainment, great food and excellent service, Proud Cabaret is the place to be in London.
