We're back with another segment of That's a Wrap! Every Saturday, we go over the top stagey stories from the week, in what we're calling the Weekly West End Wrap-Up. With so much news being shared daily, sometimes it's easier to catch up in one place. So here's the top stagey stories from this week.
Matilda the Musical Extends West End Run
Matilda the Musical has now extended it's bookings into 28 May 2023. You can book tickets to see Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre here. In addition to this, the 20th children's cast of the show will start performances on 22 March.
Additional Tickets for The Glass Menagerie Released
It was announced this week that an additional 18,000 tickets have been released due to the staggering demand for tickets, as Amy Adams makes her West End debut in The Glass Menagerie. The show will run from 23 May to 27 August at the Duke of York's Theatre. You can book tickets here.
Omigod You Guys: Legally Blonde Announces Casting for West End
This week, Legally Blonde announced the casting for their run at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Leading the cast as our Elle Woods will be the incredible Courtney Bowman (Six, ETAJ). Alongside Michael Ahomka-Lindsay (Emmett), Lauren Drew (Brooke), Vanessa Fisher (Vivienne), Isaac Hesketh (Margot), Nadine Higgin (Paulette), Alžbeta Matyšáková (Enid), Eugene McCoy (Callahan), Grace Mouat (Pilar), Alistair Toovey (Warner) and Hannah Yun Chamberlain (Serena). Witches of Eastwick Musical Concert Announced
The Witches of Eastwick Musical will run for one night only at the Sondheim Theatre. We know very little of the casting, but we do know that Giles Terera has been cast as Darryl Van Horne. It will run on 20 June 2022 and you can book tickets here.
Titanic 10 Year Anniversary UK Tour Announced
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Titanic the Musical, the show will be touring the UK. Starting 16 March 2023, the tour will be making stops at Churchill Theatre in Bromley, and then head to Newcastle Theatre Royal, Belfast Grand Opera House, Southampton Mayflower Theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome, Norwich Theatre Royal, Cardiff New Theatre, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Wycombe Swan, Hull New Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Orchard Theatre Dartford, The Lowry in Salford and Sheffield Lyceum. Tickets are yet to go on sale.
Oklahoma! Announces West End Casting
Oklahoma! will run from 26 April to 25 June 2022 at the Young Vic. The West End production will feature Anoushka Lucas (Laurey Williams), Arthur Darvill (Curly McLain), Patrick Vaill (Jud Fry), Lisa Sadovy (Aunt Eller), Marisha Wallace (Ado Annie), James Davis (Will Parker) and Stravros Demetraki (Ali Hakim). World Premiere of Mad House Announced for West EndMad House opens at the Ambassador's Theatre on 15 June to 4th September 2022. Leading the cast will be the incredible David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Bill Pullman (Independence Day). You can book tickets here.
Gary Barlow Announces One-Man West End Show
From 30 August to 18 September, Gary Barlow brings his one-man show, A Different Stage, to the Duke of York's theatre in London. Tickets are set to go on sale on Wednesday.
Kinky Boots is Coming Back
To celebrate it's 10 year anniversary, Kinky Boots is coming back! The show will open in Ipswich at the New Wolsey Theatre from 1 to 24 September and will then head to Queen's Theatre Hornchurch from 28 September to 22 October. Tickets are open to the general public from 2 April.
Time to Get Down at Hampton Court Palace
The original West End queens will reunite for two performances only on 19 and 20 June at the incredible, Hampton Court Palace. Get ready to see Jarnéia Richard-Noel (Aragon), Millie O'Connell (Boleyn), Natalie Paris (Seymour), Alexia McIntosh (Cleves), Aimie Atkinson (Howard) and Maiya Quansah-Breed (Parr). Tickets go on sale this weekend.
101 Dalmatians Musical Announces Casting
The musical adaptation of 101 Dalmatians will run from 12 July to 28 August at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. The cast will consist of Kate Fleetwood (Cruella), Danny Collins (Pongo Voice), Emma Lucia (Perdi Voice), Yana Penrose (Perdi Head) and Ben Thompson (Pongo Head). They will be joined by Jamil Abbasi (Ensemble), Stuart Angell (Captain Head), George Bukhari (Jasper), Sonya Cullingford (Ensemble), Jade Davies (Swing), Karen Fishwick (Danielle), Joseph Fletcher (Ensemble), Taofique Folarin (Swing), Courtney George (Ensemble), Tash Holway (Swing and Dance Captain), CJ Johnson (Ensemble), Kody Mortimer (Ensemble), Simon Oskarsson (Swing), Tom Peters (Captain Voice), Eric Stroud (Dominic), Jonny Weldon (Casper), and Grace Wylde (Madam Doué). Sister Act Announces Casting
Sister Act will open at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on 19 July. The incredible cast will feature Beverley Knight (Deloris Van Cartier), Jennifer Saunders (Mother Superior), Clive Rowe (Eddie Souther), Lizzie Bea (Sister Mary Robert), Keala Settle (Sister Mary Patrick) and Lesley Joseph (Mary Lazarus). Sondheim All-Star Concert Announces More GuestsAlongside Michael Ball, Petula Clark, Judi Dench, Daniel Evans, Bonnie Langford, Damien Lewis, Julia McKenzie, Elaine Paige, Bernadette Peters, Clive Rowe, Imelda Staunton and Hannah Waddingham; the show will also feature Anna-Jane Casey, Julian Ovenden, Rob Brydon, Rosalie Craig, Janie Dee, Rob Houchen and Gary Wilmot. The celebration will take place on 3 May 2022 and there are rumours that the event will be broadcast.
